Author Taylor Saracen and Blake Mitchell launched the book tour for Saracen’s new novel about Mitchell, His Own Way Out, in Las Vegas, Nevada last weekend, and Str8UpGayPorn was there to talk to the duo about the novel (and to get my own autographed copy of the book, of course). In the video below, Taylor explains her writing process and how she interviewed Blake about his life prior to writing the novel (which can be considered creative nonfiction). Then, they both share what they hope readers will take away from the book.

I’ve only just started reading it, but I’m enjoying getting to know more about who Blake was prior to becoming porn star Blake Mitchell. Some of his experiences (especially what he went through in high school) are very familiar to me, and Taylor deftly brings these experiences to the page so that everyone can relate, whether you’ve faced something similar or not.

His Own Way Out is the first novel from 13 Red Media’s (the parent company of Helix Studios) “Rise Up” series of adult novels. The next novel (which I’ve learned will be about another major Helix star, Kyle Ross), is due out this fall. The fact that Bernal (and his alleged “fan”) can’t or won’t acknowledge that using the n-word to insult a black person is literally the textbook definition of racism shows just how stupid he is. The fact that he’s telling people to “fuck off” and “be less sensitive” over the word shows that he might be a sociopath, too. I wonder what the black barber being called the n-word in Bernal’s Instagram would have to say to Bernal if he saw that video?

On a somewhat related note, Bruno Bernal is still a gay porn star, and he actually has a Men.com scene being released today. The scene was already scheduled for release prior to Bernal’s racist comments, and while the studio hasn’t pulled the scene down, they did issue this statement:

As announced earlier this month, the second annual Str8UpGayPorn Awards will be held on October 21st at the Avalon Theatre in Hollywood, California. There are several key announcements to be made about the ceremony in the coming weeks, and today I can share that nominations for the Str8UpGayPorn Awards will be announced on August 21st.

Also, I can now reveal all 28 categories that will be presented at the Str8UpGayPorn Awards, up from 18 categories last year. And, the 2018 Str8UpGayPorn Awards will feature nine “Viewer’s Choice” categories (up from just two categories last year), where winners will be determined solely by online fan voting. That voting will begin August 21st, right after nominations are announced. Winners in the other 19 categories will be determined by the judges panel (all of last year’s judges are invited to return and will be notified with voting instructions, and over a dozen new additional judges will be added to the panel).

The eligibility period for the second annual Str8UpGayPorn Awards was March 1st, 2017 through June 30th, 2018. Almost all categories will contain five nominees, except for the Performer Of The Year and Viewer’s Choice: Favorite Gay Porn Star categories, which will each contain 10 nominees. Also, four more categories this year have been opened up to include 10 nominees instead of 5, and they are: Best Newcomer, Best Cock, Best Butt, and Best Body.

To put that in perspective, that makes “The Challenge” the most disliked Men.com scene of all time. Yikes…

Most scenes (including upcoming scenes that haven’t been released yet, like “The Challenge“) have a rating of at least 70% (most are actually above 90%). Going back through the years and looking at old scenes, I couldn’t find any with a rating less than 74%:

According to a press release from Men.com, they produced “The Challenge” because a “surprisingly large number” of their customers asked for a bisexual scene:

Hey everyone, after asking our users what they would like to see, a surprisingly large number asked for a fully bisexual scene. “The Challenge” releases tomorrow.

Really? Maybe Men.com considers 26% a “surprisingly large number” of their customers.

Obviously, “The Challenge” is a deliberate stunt and ploy for attention from Men.com, and it has nothing to do with what their customers actually want. But, if all they wanted was negative attention from people who aren’t already customers, they have been successful in that regard (if you consider hundreds of angry, misogynistic, and biphobic blog comments and tweets as “success”).

Is Men.com going to gain any new paying customers (which, to be clear, is all that matters to Men.com, or any company) because of this scene? I doubt it, but if anyone joins Men.com because of this bisexual scene using any of the links on this page, I’ll be able to track it, and I’ll report back if I see any significant numbers.

Earlier this week, Men.com faced severe backlash and criticism from viewers who took issue with the gay porn studio for releasing a bisexual scene. While criticism of the studio and how they released this scene was fair (customers of a gay porn studio are paying for gay porn scenes, not bisexual scenes), the backlash against performers who appeared in the scene was not. Porn stars have to earn their paychecks just like anyone else, and while criticism of content and how it’s marketed is good, launching personal attacks against performers for simply showing up to set and doing their jobs obviously crosses the line.

The attacks against gay porn star Arad Winwin have been particularly bad, as the Iranian-born performer has faced a wave of harassment on social media all week, with some accusing the openly gay performer of being “secretly straight,” or of being “converted” into heterosexuality by Men.com producers after performing in this scene. This would then mean that all the straight guys who perform in gay sex scenes are being “converted” into being gay, right? This is the kind of deranged logic we normally see from the Family Research Council, not so-called gay porn fans.

To clear up any absurd confusion or misconceptions, Str8UpGayPorn reached out to Arad Winwin to get his take on what it was like working on the scene, and our brief conversation is below.

Str8UpGayPorn: Hi Arad. There’s been a lot of speculation about you from some commenters since the release of your bisexual scene, where you had sex with female porn star Silvia Saige. Just so everyone is clear, you’re gay, right?
Arad Winwin: Yes, I’m a gay man.

Prosecutors don’t appear to be pursuing that third charge listed above (probation violation), and are moving forward with just the felony cocaine and fentanyl charges. Evans was already on probation at the time of his arrest, and he remains in custody in Broward County, per his inmate record today (see below). His next court date is scheduled for September 21st, 2018.
